Derived from ancient and modern teachings of Maya shaman healers, Maya Spiritual Healing comes to our practitioners from the teachings of Dr. Rosita Arvigo in Belize. Modern medicine is beginning to understand the healing wisdom of ancient cultures. The link between many physical illnesses is connected with unresolved emotional stress and distress. These sessions focus on the causes and treatment of chu'lel (life force) and four major spiritual illnesses of the Maya: susto (fright), pesar (grief), tristeza (sadness), and invidia (envy), and the uses of healing techniques such as prayer, herbal bathing, and incense. Maya Spiritual Healing is generally combined with an Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy session.
Lying comfortably on a massage table, your practitioner tunes in to your pulses and begins to pray over you in English or Spanish, using time-honored Maya prayers to facilitate letting go of grief, sadness, envy, or fright. In addition, plants and water aspersions are used to deepen the healing potential of the session. As the prayers work, your belly and back are massaged with traditional Maya therapeutic techniques.
Patients generally leave a session feeling lighter, more centered, and ready to tackle the demands of life. A session of Maya Spiritual Healing may bring up old emotions, which can then be released fully from the body, mind, and spirit. We recommend that you schedule some rest time after your session, to relax with a cup of tea or take a walk and allow your session to fully integrate.
