David Berkshire, L.Ac.

David Berkshire, L.Ac., has been passionate about natural medicine since he witnessed the powerful effects of Oriental medicine in a friend with a severe head injury. Seeing this deep healing of the body, mind and spirit led David on a journey beyond the adolescent chemical dependency counseling he was doing at the time. He began to understand that each individual possesses a unique power to self-heal when his or her energy is moving and clear.

David has spent the last ten years studying Chinese and natural medicine in many forms: acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, qigong, homeopathy, and CranioSacral energy work. For the last eight years, he has been the primary student and co-teacher with celebrated five-elements acupuncturist David Ford. He has also spent many hours studying under homeopathy master Dr. Gerard Gueniot. David finds that natural medicine affects profound changes at all levels of an individual’s life. He works to enhance the quality of his patients’ lives in the physical, emotional and spiritual spheres.

In addition to patient care, David is committed to sharing natural medicine through education. Currently, David teaches as an intern supervisor and clinical observation instructor at the National College of Natural Medicine. He has taught five-element acupuncture theory at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, along with continuing education courses through Awakening to the Soul of Our Medicine (ASOM).

Since David founded Kwan-Yin Healing Arts Center in 2001, his practice has grown to include many other skilled natural medicine practitioners. Located in Northwest Portland, the clinic brings a ray of hope to those suffering from many difficult, recalcitrant diseases.
