LaNai Mackey, L.Ac., grew up in a small beach town in Southern California. She attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she completed her B.S. degree with honors in Biology and an emphasis on pre-med studies. Having a strong sense of community, LaNai volunteered at a day care for homeless children, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation of New Mexico, and the oncology unit at University of New Mexico Hospital.
LaNai completed her graduate studies at the National College of Natural Medicine, with a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine. She is trained in classical Chinese medicine, five-element acupuncture, qigong, and Oriental bodywork. She integrates her knowledge of acupuncture, herbs, bodywork, and nutrition to form an individualized treatment plan for each person, addressing a wide range of disharmonies in the body.
Having a personal and professional interest in the mind-body-spirit connection, LaNai completed her thesis on the value of dreams as a diagnostic tool in Chinese medicine. She continues to research the influence of the unconscious mind on the physical body. As described in her thesis and supported by classical Chinese medical texts, dream analysis is a vital tool to indicate where a person’s state of health is going.
In her free time, LaNai enjoys the company of her rescued animals (Jango and Boba), camping, cycling, and hiking. She still has a special place in her heart for the beach—when her schedule permits, she loves spending time at the coast.
