Dr. Emalee Furtek is currently starting her full time residency with Dr. Ilana Gurevich, ND, LAc focusing on gastroenterology and primary care.
Dr. Furtek a board-certified Naturopathic physician and Acupuncturist who graduated from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Her training in both Naturopathic and traditional Chinese medicine allows her to combine the best of both western and eastern medical mindsets to provide holistic, individual based care.
During her Naturopathic clinical training, Dr. Furtek shows a particular aptitude in modalities of physical medicine, gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune disorders, and chronic illnesses. Incorporating modern diagnostic techniques with individually planned natural therapies and traditional Chinese medicine, Dr. Furtek provides comprehensive and evidence based care. Modalities include but are not limited to, spinal naturopathic manipulation, Western and Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, hydrotherapy, dietary and lifestyle education, IV nutrient therapy, and other Chinese medicinal therapies such as acupuncture, tuina massage, cupping, electroacupuncture, and moxa to help provide individualized treatment plans to best fit your lifestyle.
Being a strong believer in Doctere, or “Doctor as teacher,” Dr. Furtek understands the importance of a strong educational base for patient care as well as a supportive atmosphere to allow patients to play an active role in their own health care journey.
When not working at Kwan Yin, Dr. Furtek enjoys going to local farmers markets, cooking, hiking, and exploring the city.
