Dr. Emily Burke, N.D.
Dr. Burke is a native Oregonian, born and raised in Eugene. Growing up in Oregon, camping, hiking and exploring the beautiful Northwest, she came to appreciate the undeniable beauty of the link between people and nature.
While completing a bachelor’s degree in pre-med studies and Japanese language at the University of Oregon, she began to unearth a true passion for medicine when she learned about naturopathy. In learning more about it, she was attracted to the way naturopathic medicine blended the modern empirical and intuitive approaches to human health. Sensibly using the framework of western evidence-based medicine while acknowledging the complexity of the whole, unique individual; mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual. Naturopathy is based on a principle of education and empowerment of the patient, and in returning the power to the patient, reinforces the idea that the body can heal itself when we remove the barriers to healing.
Dr. Burke is an alumna of the National College of Natural Medicine (now NUNM). And recently completed post-doctoral studies in advanced microbial medicines with her colleague Dr. Mark Davis, most notably in the natural treatment of IBS & IBD with special focus on the use of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) to treat refractory Clostridium difficile infection.
It is currently her mission to continue to provide and promote the safe and effective use of FMT in line with the current guidelines set forth by the FDA.
